It is a most impressive space, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Some beautiful work in there Ray.
Les sculptures sont superbes.
Brian Walbey: They are indeed Martine.
I like the designs on the ceilings of these places.
Brian Walbey: I always wonder how they managed to build places like this all those centuries ago.
What a beautiful after-thought, then, Brian!
Brian Walbey: Magnificent isn't it.

That reredos is very impressive, Brian. If it has been built in a previous century, it would have probably been smashed at the Reformation
Brian Walbey: Somehow the people of Christchurch managed to persuede Henry VIII that the church should be left alone and he agreed.

Surprising opulence, considering that it is a parish church.
Brian Walbey: It was orginally a Priory but when Henry VIII ordered many such places to be destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries the towns people renamed it as a church because Henry was ignoring that sort of building, a the guide in the building told me the only damage was a few broken windows.

The reredos is very impressive. I like the painting above it.
Brian Walbey: Magnificent work isn't it. More of the painting on Friday.
there is so much to see in this picture Brian... such wonderful sculptures and the ceiling is spectacular....petersmile
Brian Walbey: The interior of this church came as a complete surprise, not what one would expect from a small town.
