Christchurch Priory 2/7

The nave and transepts of Christchurch Priory are Norman with heavy columns and round arches. By about 1530 the church looked much as it does today. The monastic buildings were pulled down by Henry VIII in 1539, but the church was saved following a plea from the townspeople. It has been used as a parish church ever since.

I like that golden ceiling, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Quite a few places like this now illuminate the ceilings with coloured light, it does add to the atmpsphere.
I love that golden light!

Unlike the Tardis, the space inside seems smaller than it would appear from the outside (but then the aisles are quite wide.
Brian Walbey: I know what you mean, we spent most of the time we had in Christchurch in here, so much to look at and enjoy.
