It looks enormous, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Like a small cathedral Ray.
J'espère que tu nous montreras la nef qui doit être superbe.
Brian Walbey: The nave is tomorrows picture Martine.
I love how the clock shines
Brian Walbey: Nicely polished, they must have known we were visiting smile
Believe it or not, Brian, just last week Astrid and I visited the longest church in the Netherlands (the St. Janskerk in Gouda) which is 403.5 feet long. It's hard to believe any church could possibly be that long!
Brian Walbey: This is like a small cathedral, apparently extra bits were added to its length over the centuries.

I have been there in times gone by, and I plan to revisit possibly this year
Brian Walbey: We felt it was worth the visit.

That is quite the architecture, Brian. The clock really sticks out here.

I have visited here a couple of times. It is a fine church
Brian Walbey: Being on a Sheerings coach holiday we didn't have long in Christchurch and spent nearly all that time in the church, it was well worth it.

Must have been a huge parish, given the size and the building costs of this great church. Although different building styles can be discerned, they managed to create an integrated whole.

Funnily enough, I have a shot taken from almost exactly the same spot that I took on Saturday night; I went to a Beethoven 250 concert there smile It is a splendid church.
Brian Walbey: We thought it a magnificent building, I see they have another Beethoven concert there in March.
I thought that was a pretty big church!
Brian Walbey: Like a small cathedral Tom.
it is a massive church Brian... i like the clock on the bell tower... i'm sure that it is lovely inside....petersmile

The same reason that Tewkesbury Abbey survived demolision.
Brian Walbey: We must count ourselves lucky places like this survived.
