Calke Abbey on Sheep Saturday

The main flock of sheep at Calke Abbey have been sold and only a small herd of some 50 Portland sheep still remain.  This group were grazing the meadow right next to the main house itself. All the images in this series are ‘proper HDR’ using 3 bracketed exposures, Photomatix Essentials 4.0, Photoshop CS3 and Topaz Adjust. I hope you enjoy the results.

Sheep Saturday is really catching on Brian grin
Brian Walbey: An occasional subject for me, mind you I wonder what you will all make of my Sheep Saturday posting two weeks today.
A wonderful pastoral scene Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, the parkland, many hectares of it, at Calke is really beautiful, you could walk for a week there and still not do all the paths I would think.
love landscape
Brian Walbey: It is a fine place to go Chantal, and very popular to the local population for miles around.

HDR brings out the subtleties of the leaves so well
Brian Walbey: Yes I suspect they would have looked quite 'flat' without the HDR.
They do a great mowing job! I love the tree.
Brian Walbey: Sheep excel at grass mowing don't they smile Throughout the parkland there are many very fine trees of all species.

You did a nice job with these images, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray, I'm very pleased at the way they have been received seeing as they are my first serious attempt at HDR.
I like how the big tree stands out among the sheep.
Brian Walbey: They are some beautiful trees on this large country estate Jacquelyn.
Fortunate to discover it was a sheep convention smile
Brian Walbey: They used to have about 600 sheep but have now cut back to this rare breed flock of about 50 Portland sheep.

Portland! Now I rember; I could notice think of the breed earlier in the week. All seem to be busy eating.
Brian Walbey: I think sheep probably eat all the time Alan, just like cattle.
