Charlecote Manor - Inside 1/7

In the second series of photographs taken at Charlecote Manor, Warwickshire in May last year I will introduce you to a quick look at some of the inside of the house. This is the first major area one enters and is called the Great Hall. It is an extremely large room and not easy to photograph in one shot, especially as visitors are limited to moving round the edge of the room on one side of a cordoned walking area. There are some fine paintings heer and I do like the family one above the fireplace.

Impressive...scene and image, Brian.

Interesting, isn't it, that they have employed a taxidermist for the deer, but sculptors and painters for the humans...
Brian Walbey: Indeed Ray smile
I was not expecting to see a headless woman.
Brian Walbey: Neither I Mary, or indeed one without a face smile
A bit busy isn't it! A lot of very nice artwork throughout!
Brian Walbey: I guess the curators want to show off as much "stuff" as they can.

It's difficult to know what to look at first in a collection such as this
Brian Walbey: Yes all sorts of things to look at right through the house.

It sure looks like a great hall
Brian Walbey: It definitely makes my entrance porch look decidedly miniature.
Designed to impress visitors and succeeds beautifully Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes I guess that's why it's so large, it was a bit like people you see who have houses that are all show and no substance.
What richness
Brian Walbey: Indeed Chantal, in those days there were the rich and the others!
I can just imagine the occupants of the Manor greeting Elizabeth 1 in this opulent setting, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Indeed Beverly.
Nice shot Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Previous.
A beautiful opulent place Brian!
Brian Walbey: Yes the whole inside is very nice.

Well done Brian - I see some unfortunates from the adjacent deer park have made it onto the walls!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mike. They used to like killing animals in the old days.

Don't you wonder how they lived back in that day, Brian. I sure would love to compare how life has changed since then...and how with have switched around our priorities?!
