In 1971 I got married, bought my first SLR, joined my first Camera Club and set up my first darkroom. This is the first picture in an extensive set I am posting for three lots of three weeks, with gaps in between, of a lot of my early photographs taken in the 1970's and the early 1980's, I think all on Praktica cameras, with a few from later times.
All of the pictures in this series were taken on B&W.film, developed and printed by me and sometimes entered into Club competitions. This is original monochrome work and the only digital bit is scanning the prints into Photoshop and preparing them for display here.
Bridge Hotel, St.Neots, Cambridgeshire
We went to live just outside St.Neots when we married and this is the very first picture I developed and printed, with some advice from an older Club member, and then subsequently entered into my first competition. It didn't win any prizes but it does remind me of the pleasant times we had sitting on the patio here by the River Ouse with a pint of Whitbread Tankard, (who remembers that), watching the world go by.
