Tewkesbury Abbey - Part 1 - Outside - 2/5

Two shots from Tewkesbury Abbey, on the left the tower from the South side and on the right the West door.  I had to crop this one in close because for some reason there was a van parked just out of picture on the right, goodness knows what it was there for on a Sunday!

I might ha e said before but, some years ago we went to a performance of Monteverdi’s Vespers here, as part of the Cheltenham music festival.
Brian Walbey: I'll bet that was an evening to remember Chad.

I have the loveliest memories of Tewkesbury Abbey - fine images!
Brian Walbey: It is a beautiful building isn't it. I hope you enjoy my pictures from inside which I am posting during the next few weeks, but not all together.
Delivering the communion wine perhaps?
Brian Walbey: I can imagine they get through a lot of that in a big abbey like this one.

I especially like the receding arches in the RH shot (there's probably a technical name for it but I've no idea what it is!)
Brian Walbey: No I don't know what it is called but it is quite unusual.
A handsome, sturdy structure.
Brian Walbey: They new how to build them back in those days.
it looks like a beautiful Abbey Brian... i like your point of both the images....petersmile
Brian Walbey: It is a beautiful building Peter as you will see when I post the indoor shots.
Love the majestic design of the West door entrance, Brian.
Brian Walbey: I don't think I've seen a building like this with such high arches.
