Grindleford Station 5/5

he old railway station buildings at Grindleford have now been turned into a very well known cafe and it has become extremely popular for walkers and motorcyclists, although parking for cars is somewhat limited. We enjoyed a drink and a snack there, taking notice of the polite sign on the wall outside.

Next week I will show you the second part of my Padley Gorge series.

This is quite obviously a civilised place Brian, and long may it continue to be so..
Brian Walbey: Apparently the previous owner had notices pinned up all over the place that could be taken as either humorous or insulting about what customers can and couldn't do, it was quite famous for that, we didn't see anything like that when we went in, I believe his son has taken over.

I think they explained it all, Brian.... I am with Chris in this.

That polite sign reminds me of when a service person says "permission to speak, sir." smile

Polite and common sense mostly. I can never understand why some people prefer to behave differently.

Seems to be all quite reasonable, Brian. Too bad it needs to be put down in black & white for some people.

No problems with those rules.

Its a shame that such "rules" need to advertised. Surely, common sense and courtesy covers them all?

These rules sound familiar to me, I read them also here on the wall or inside the café. How old might this sign be? I also often read in England: Children have to be supervised.

I suspect the sign is quite old going by the apparent wear on the painting. We are firm believers in children being supervised in such places, ours always were.
Very nice!!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth. (We now have a relatively new channel on our cable TV called Smithsonian, which I gather is a very big museum in the USA. They have some great documentaries, mainly concerned with your country but also the U.K.and one of the most interesting series is one called Aerial America which features a different state in each edition. Last night was Indiana, I am waiting for Arizona to come up, as no doubt it will one day.)
