I mean, who came up with this idea?
Brian Walbey: There has been motorcycles and sidears almost since bikes were first invented in the late 1880's, for racing purposes they developed into these strange platforms.
C'est un sport acrobatique.
Brian Walbey: The passenger certainyl has to be fit and nimble.

Do they win a cup?
Brian Walbey: I don't know Chris, this is racing at club level so any monetary awards would be quite small.

This looks rather funny Brian, as if one rider has leapt onto another bike.
Brian Walbey: The passengers are more likely to fall off the platform rather than climb aboard somebody elses outfit.
I like the bloke in orange in the background
Brian Walbey: He caught my eye as well.
You'd hardly call the sidecar man a passenger!
Brian Walbey: Indeed Tom, they must be mad to want to do that.
A fabulous action shot
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much.
Is this something you would try, Brian?
Brian Walbey: Definitely not Beverly, especially being the passenger! I have been an enthusiast for motorcycle racing since 1961 but have never actually fancied racing myself although for 14 years I did take part as the circuit commentator at quite a lot of circuits and meetings.

There has been sidebar racing on TV recently from the Isle fo man TT... similar set ups to these, I should think, but probably much faster.
Brian Walbey: Yes very similar Alan but on the IOM they might well get up to 160mph. on the straight parts.
These guys are crazy! Good shot Brian.
Brian Walbey: Not soemthing I've ever fancied doing even though I have been an enthusiast since 1961.
