Ashford in the Water 4/4

The bridge, originally a narrow pack-horse bridge, was later widened, and was finally closed in the 1960’s since when it has become a favourite and special place for residents and visitors alike. The wall on the left of the bridge is the enclosure featured in yesterdays post. When the sheep were washed they went in the water from the enclosure and were taken out in that gap on the other side.

What a pity they don't wash sheep here still. Imagine the pictures you could take..
Brian Walbey: I think they wash a token few sheep at the Well Dressing celebrations but that is all.
A nice bit of history, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Sadly that's all it is Tom.

Ah.. it was on this grassy bank where I sat to bathe my feet smile It's a beautiful location; the swan thinks so, too.
Brian Walbey: As I said on yesterdays picture it is a peacful place to sit for a while.
A lovely place for birdwatching I would think, seeing a swan.
Brian Walbey: I would think there might be a lot of wildfowl there in the winter.
