Aberdaron Church 6/7

Two carved boulders within the church commemorate a pair of 5th or 6th century priests, Veracius and Senacus.. The church is a Grade I listed building, its listing recording the church as "one of the major churches of the Lleyn".

I do wander at the significance of the globe under the crucifix, Brian?
Brian Walbey: As far as I can recall the literature and style of the Jesus was something to do with missionary work among poorer nations in our world.

This looks like an old bricked up doorway
Brian Walbey: You might well be right Chris, it serves it purpose as it is.
This is unusual Brian

I'd be tempted to straighten up the cross but I'd probably end up breaking it! There has been a fair amount of repointing to the stonework.
Brian Walbey: I suspect this part has had quite a major rebuild at some time.
it looks a bit basic but in good condition, Brian.

A lovely niche with the crucifixus, but not used as altar. Your explanation about this cross sounds convincing.
Brian Walbey: I'm sure missionary work was involved, I thought I'd taken a picture of the notices but then couldn't find it.
Looks pretty ancient!
Brian Walbey: The stonework certainly is.
I really like the old stonework
Brian Walbey: I wonder if the stonework is from the original church before it fell into ruin.
