Nice stained glass Brian, I saw some unusual specimens last week, I'll post them some time.

A fine symmetry here, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Shame I couldn't get floor to ceiling in but it is a very tall part of the cathedral.
Superbes vitraux mis en évidence par la lumière.
Brian Walbey: They are very fine windows.
Those windows are beautiful!

An interesting and vast place. Those windows really stand out
Brian Walbey: If you ever venture to Cambridgeshire Ely Cathedral is a must.
A wonderful place and this is a fine shot Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, I seem to recall you have visited this ovely building.

A mighty building. Your view makes it look like an old building where all the floors have gone.

That is a lot of heavy stone. The glass seems so delicate.
Brian Walbey: It would be interesting to know where the stone for this cathedral came from all those centuries ago, it isn't in an area known for its stone quarries.
The windows are gorgeous, Brian, and the colour of the stonework makes a beautiful combination.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Beverly, I consider it one of our most beautiful cathedrals.

I have visited once but didn't really get much of a chance to spend time inside - this whets the appetite for another viewing.
Brian Walbey: If you ever pass that way again Anne give yourself more time, it is well worth it.

Wiki: The cathedral is built from stone quarried from Barnack in Northamptonshire (bought from Peterborough Abbey, whose lands included the quarries), with decorative elements carved from Purbeck Marble and local clunch.

I like the converging verticals very much. Also the apparent difference in the colouring of the stone between that affected by natural light and that reliant on other lighting.
wonderful composition Brian... very well framed....petersmile

What a coincidence, we visited Ely recently and I have started to post some of mine from the Cathedral.

I love the angle of this photograph.
