photoblog image An Afternoon Stroll 3/5

An Afternoon Stroll 3/5

As a sort of homage to our late SC friend Richard Standley (standley) I thought I would post a short series of images I took recently when Maureen and I went for a short afternoon walk at Ulverscroft, near Leicester. Richard never actually showed us the destination of his various walks and this set will echo this right through to the last image on Friday.

this is all very tidy, Brian. and i like the verdant green.
Brian Walbey: It's a footpath on privaet ground and is therefore well looked after.
It is a really nice walk so far!
Brian Walbey: Yes it's not very long but is surrounded by nice countryside, and the tearoom at the start is excellent smile

A wall of fabulous foliage, Brian.
Brian Walbey: The best of August colours before Autumn.

This is very much in Richard Standley's style
Brian Walbey: This particular one is, more so than some of the others I guess.

Great composition and setting.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Louis, it is not a long walk but is nice countryside to be in and starts at one of the best tearooms in the area, we were walking off our lunch smile
Ah yes Richard liked a nice bend to let us imagine what was around it
Brian Walbey: This one is very much in his style.

It certainly makes you want to see what is round the bend, Brian
Brian Walbey: Very much in Richards style, which is what made me think of putting this short series together.

I wonder what is round the corner Brian.
Brian Walbey: Some more lovely Leicestershire scenery Chad.
Certainly this area is well fenced.
Brian Walbey: The fields to the left of the path are used for cattle and sheep in the summer, hence the fencing.
The enticement of such a walk is to discover what lies around the corner
Brian Walbey: You are indeed correct Martin, but in the best Richard Standley tradition that won't be the case with this walk.

Lovely...great leading lines and a multitude of shades of green.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bonnie, this is a nice footpath to walk at any time.
And a bit further!
Brian Walbey: Nearly there Tom.

Summer foliage is evident here and no doubt the foliage at the side of the track is full of stinging nettles designed to cause misery for days after.
Brian Walbey: Mid August Alan, I didn't try the foliage for nettles needless to say.
