wonderful warm lighting Brian... i like the texture of the old wood under the candle holder....petersmile
Brian Walbey: I took several versions of this but liked this one the most.
I am really liking this series, Brian. Thanks for sharing it.
Brian Walbey: A pleasure Ginnie, it goes on for several weeks with breaks at the weekends.
Quite a range of material in the competition
Brian Walbey: Our DPI (Digital Photographic Image) class competitions usually attracts up to 14 or 15 entrants with up to 50 or so images, there is always a wide spread of material, even in the specific subject competitions.

I can see clearly why this one was highly commended

A difficult shot to get the lighting right throughout. I like the diagonals very much.
Brian Walbey: I was lucky the outside light was balanced off nicely by that indoors and this one, of several I took was the one I liked the most.

This is very good Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chad, as soon as I saw the subject I knew I wanted to photograph it.

The high level of rustic and old materials in this picture, makes it special.
Brian Walbey: Taken in the window of a genuine Tudor mansion, hence the style of windows.

It is a pleasing image, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray.
Certainly some variety in your open competitions Brian
Brian Walbey: There is even in 'subject' competitions if people use their imaginations, and a lot of it is very good work, I just feel satisfied if I get an award of some sort occasionally.
You were in good company there, Brian!
Brian Walbey: There are some very good photographers in my club Tom.

Nice light and shadow Brian. Some interesting images in your club's competition as well.
Brian Walbey: Hi Les, nice to hear from you again. This is a fairly long series and for almost all of the images I am including a link to my clubs website where the award winning images for that competition can be looked at.
Very nicely done. Perhaps this was shown here before? I seem to remember it.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary. I might have shown this before, with 3,200+ postings it is difficult to remember every one and I do know I will be showing one later in the series that I posted many years ago.
