Towards the lower end of the garden at Easton the early stretches of the River Witham, Lincolnshire’s main river, flows through and is crossed by this lovely old ornamental bridge.

The mighty Witham is a mere trickle here, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Not very far from the source Ray, all rivers have to start somewhere I guess.
A really lovely water feature!
Brian Walbey: I took so many angles of this bridge it was difficult to decide which to use.

How nice to see this bridge
Brian Walbey: It leads one across the river to the main part of the walled garden.

a very fine bridge!
Brian Walbey: It leads one across the river to the main part of the walled garden.
We might never see such extravagance as building expensive stone bridges for not much more than ornament Brian.
Brian Walbey: I quite agree Chad, mind you there seems to be plenty of billionaires about who could afford it.
That is a very small river.
Brian Walbey: Very much the small stream near the source Mary, I guess all rivers start in a small way.

The bridge looks like it from a time when money seem to be less of a concern (at least for a few...( than it is now. Those who have the money these days obviously have got there by not spending it on ornamental bridges smile
Brian Walbey: I can imagine this would cost a fortune to build these days.
The bridge looks fine as it spans this raging torrent Brian
Brian Walbey: I can't imagine, even in winter, this being much of a raging torrent smile
