Cley Windmill 4/5

Lt Col Blount died on 1st February 1979 and the mill was inherited by his youngest son, Colonel Charles Blount, father of the singer James Blunt, who spent much time there as a child. The mill was offered for sale in May 1982, but did not sell. In 1983, planning permission and listed building consent was sought from North Norfolk District Council to turn the mill and complex into a guesthouse and self-catering units. This was granted, with the mill opening as a guesthouse on 27 April 1983.

Both yesterday and today's pictures are a delight. What an amazing windmill and it looks so well kept. Yes I could live here and be very happy smile
Brian Walbey: It is one of the main landmarks along that part of our coast Astrid, but very expensive to stay in from 91 Euros per night B.& B.per person!

A delightful and interesting place to stay
Brian Walbey: From £79 per person per night Chris!
It looks in tip top condition Brian.
Brian Walbey: It is very well looked after because it is now an upmarket B.& B.
As good as it gets, fine colour tones.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin.

Lovely and crisp shot, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray.
I would imagine it does quite well.
Brian Walbey: AT the prices they charge for B.& B.etc. no doubt it does.

Interesting to learn of the connection with the singer; amazingly I've heard of him! I expect the B&B is very busy in summer.
Brian Walbey: Yes I've heard of James Blunt, using the word 'heard' in the loosest sense smile
it's a great looking windmill Brian... but as a guest house the noise of the mill grinding in the wind must be uncomfortable for the tenantsgrin....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter, the wind throught hereeds outside must sound good though.
The rooms look a delight on their website but they are expensive
Brian Walbey: From £79 pppn.it is more than I woudl be prepared to pay however nice it is.

Looks to be quite popular, Brian
Brian Walbey: I think to stay at the mill one would need to be fairly well off, I wouldn't want to pay from £79 pppn!
