Beamish - The Living Museum Of The North - Part 2
Looking back from yesterdays picture this is a view of Rowley Station at Beamish together with the Goods Shed on the left. The station was the first relocated building to be opened at the museum and was officially unveiled by Sir John Betjeman in 1976. Dominating the station at the back of the picture is the large building externally presented as Beamish Waggon and Iron Works, established in 1857. The real purposes of the building is as the Regional Museums Store, completed in 2002, which Beamish shares with Tyne and Wear Museums. On the inset picture you can just make out Maureen sitting quietly enjoying what was a lovely sunny afternoon, as well as on the main picture.
