Around Wells-next-the-Sea 1/5

It seems a long time since our Norfolk holiday in Wells-next-the-Sea in May and I still haven’t posted many pictures from there as yet. The road from the village to the beach at Wells is a long straight one about 1 mile long so during the summer season this little train plies its way back and forth. It’s petrol driven of course and is quite a novel little train to travel on.

That must be the narrowest of narrow gauge tracks, Brian.

Love the enormous dog taking the ride.
Brian Walbey: Less than two foot gauge I would think, but fun to ride on.
It looks like a toy! I, too, like the dog hanging out the window!
Brian Walbey: It isn't much bigger than a toy. There is a quite good, and short, video of it here https://youtu.be/baZwP3_4PF0

Avec toutes ces couleurs, on dirait un jouet d'enfant.
Brian Walbey: It's not as lot bigger than a large childs toy train.

I've never heard of this railway before today Brian. The dog is glad for the ride
Brian Walbey: It is fun to ride on, there's a good little video of it here https://youtu.be/baZwP3_4PF0

Certainly different, Brian - and most colourful
Brian Walbey: Great fun to ride on Lisl.
When I saw the dog in the back, Brian, I almost lost it. How adorable. The engineer barely fits in. smile
Brian Walbey: I think the dog must have had a seat to itself. It's good fun to ride on and saves a long walk.

At quick glance the loco reminds of an elephant even down to the mirrors (the "ears"). The train looks well patronised.
Brian Walbey: It does look elephantine I agree. It is fun to ride on and saves a walk. It was very busy the on the Sunday we went because it was such a lovely day. There's a short video of it here https://youtu.be/baZwP3_4PF0
Prototype for HS2
Brian Walbey: I wish, but don't get me started, I might be a railway fan but as far as I'm concerned HS2 is a totally unnecessary waste of public money, it isn't needed, but politicians would rather spend billions of pounds of our money than be seen to reverse their decision!!

It is a lovely spot, I am looking forward to seeing some of our old haunts.
Brian Walbey: We liked Wells, it was our first visit and we found a nice little cottage just off the Quay which we rented for a week.
Looks like Alan is the conductor.

I have never seen such a funny train - Alan hits the nail on its head. The dog seems to enjoy the ride.
Brian Walbey: It is a delightful little train to ride on and saves a 1 mile walk in each direction to and from the beach.

WOW.... this looks adoable, if I can say that about a train... petrol driven..erm... that is something new to me I think.
Great shot...that dog smile
Brian Walbey: They used to have little steam engines but changed to a petrol driven engine a few years ago, much less trouble to look after.
well the dog just had to stick his head out of the window, hadn't he? smile a fun ride, for sure, Brian.
Brian Walbey: I bet the dog is enjoying itself, it must have taken up a whole seat.

It looks a colourful and fun way to travel Brian.
Brian Walbey: It certainly saves walking a mile in each direction to the beach.

Looks like fun. I will walk to the beach (exercise) and take the train back smile
Brian Walbey: Sounds like the best way to do it Louis, but we took the easy (lazy) option.
He he I have a fairly similar picture coming up tomorrow Brian.
Brian Walbey: I look forward to that posting then Chad.
the little train that could Brian... i love the dog looking out the side....petersmile
Brian Walbey: It saves a long walk down to the beach and back, like me I suspect you would have found the walk (1 mile each way) a tad too much.
