photoblog image 'Scene' in Durham 5/5

'Scene' in Durham 5/5

I really have no idea why I took this shot other than I liked all the rooftops with the church towering above them further up the side of the hill, and also these two men apparently staring at nothing very much out over the bridge over the River Wear. (For railway fans the East Coast main line can be seen just behind the lamp post on the left of the picture.) I didn't win with this picture at my club on Tuesday evening but I was pleased it was awarded a Highly Commended there being a very strong standard of entries.

Rooftops are pleasant to peruse, thank you, Brian.
Brian Walbey: I just found this lot quite interesting.
i like the lamppost and the cathedral Brian... but the two old fogies don't add much to your shot....petersmile
Brian Walbey: It was the two old fogies that attracted me, I wondered what they were looking at.

I love this picture, look at the different rooftops GREAT...
Too bad of the picture in the competition, I think it is a great on, love the selective colouring.
Brian Walbey: It is a picture one either likes or loathes to be honest. The complete set of winning pictures in the competition is here https://www.flickr.com/photos/shepshedcameraclub/sets/72157674878937785/
I do like how the rooftops ebb and flow - like a wave. Congrats on your commendation!
Brian Walbey: Some of you like it, some don't, one can't please everybody. The complete group of winning pictures is here https://www.flickr.com/photos/shepshedcameraclub/sets/72157674878937785/
Jolie composition avec le clocher qui sort des arbres.
The image is a lovely commentary on our lives at this age, Brian, as far as I'm concerned. THAT'S probably why you took it. HA! Congrats on the Highly Commended!
Brian Walbey: That is how I thought of it Ginnie, quietly passing the time away. The groip of winning pictures is here https://www.flickr.com/photos/shepshedcameraclub/sets/72157674878937785/

They might have become zombified Brian

I thought you'd win something with your church picture
Brian Walbey: I wondered what they were looking at to be honest, never did fathom that out. The winning group of pictures is here https://www.flickr.com/photos/shepshedcameraclub/sets/72157674878937785/
You do wonder what they are looking at

Your picture certainly deserved at least a highly commended
Brian Walbey: One of the reasons I took the picture. The winning group of pictures is here https://www.flickr.com/photos/shepshedcameraclub/sets/72157674878937785/
Now if I was studying footage instead of gutteridge Brian, I'd be even more impressed with this picture.
Brian Walbey: Or even roofage or trouserage.
I think of friends comfortable with each other in this shot. I am glad your shot took an award. It was very nice.
Brian Walbey: I don't know if they knew each other, they stood for quite a long time. The winning group of images is here https://www.flickr.com/photos/shepshedcameraclub/sets/72157674878937785/

Quite interesting - the two men. With all the space available, they are quite close to each other. Either there is something below and on the other side of the wall, or they are acquaintances or about to become acquainted.

Rooftops tend to make good shots, like this one.
Brian Walbey: For some odd reason I just liked this arrangement, I never did fond out if they knew each other or what they were looking at.

I like it very much. I can just imagine standing in the same spot looking at nothing in particular but enjoying it nevertheless. Well done on your competition placing; a judge with at least little common sense wink
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. I haven't a clue what these guys were looking at.

I like the roofscape, I think the two men have the same impression.
Brian Walbey: There was certainly something that had caught their eye.
