Summer Fungus #2

To follow up with the surprise fungus on our rotting tree stump that came up in May (see yesterday also) this is the view from above, as you can see it has a quite spectacular pattern and was in the order of 4 inches wide.

They are beautiful structures Brian..oft overlooked
Brian Walbey: I thought this one quite spectacular.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Astrid for taking time to catch up with my postings, life must have been very hard in the workhouse but better than the alternative perhaps.
I think they are so pretty and smell great too.
Brian Walbey: I thought this one quite spectacular.
Il est immense et magnifique !
Brian Walbey: Indeed it is Martine, I was sad when it slowly rotted away.
Life continues - rotten wood hosts this magnificent specimen
Brian Walbey: We have had three or four different species over the last few years come out but this is definitely the best so far.

It makes me think of a loaf of bread done in the shape of a sheaf of wheat.
Brian Walbey: I thought similar to that myself Alan.
