Crich Museum Miscellanea 5/7

I was lucky enough on one of our tram rides at Crich to get right behind the driver and was able to take this shot from the front of the tram as we made our way back to the made centre of the museum. Once again you can see the beautiful Derbyshire countryside ahead of us. I wonder how many of us gents 'of a certain age' on SC would like to take over the controller for a little while? (Next week a look at a few of the trams running on the day we were there)

One of your best, Maestro!

This is good, very good, what a view and what a place to sit..
Those clouds are wonderful.
The driver is wearing a nice shirt, freshly ironed.
Brian Walbey: It was a really good day out Astrid, we have been there several times since moving to the Midlands. All of the tram drivers were very well dressed.
What a fabulous image Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard.

Bet it wasn't so pleasant on a wet day!

Excellent picture
Brian Walbey: I'm sure is wasn't Chris.
Even I would take a try at that, Brian. smile
Brian Walbey: I'm sure you would and I bet Astrid would as well.
Yes, I bet a few of you would love to do this.
Brian Walbey: It looks easy but I bet there's quite a lot to learn.
I haven't a clue what they wheel he's holding does Brian.
Brian Walbey: Nor have I Chad, they keep winding it round a lot but I don't know if it's brakes of accelerator, whatever it makes the tram go.

I gather that controller is more of a brake, than anything else? If he can do it, I can do it smile I am not sure if I am "of a certain age" ...
Brian Walbey: I am definitely of a 'certain age' these days Louis!! I'm not really sure what that lever is for, they wind it round a lot.
Your life in his capable looking hands, you were fortunate with the weather when we went it was a bit mixed
Brian Walbey: Yes it all worked out well that day, especially on this trip.
Well of course we would Brian. Super picture
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, I thought you would fancy having a go on one of these.

A man in total control - you had the perfect spot.
Brian Walbey: The luck of being first in the queue to get on Mike.

I do believe that is the brake wheel that he's holding in his right hand and the speed control is mainly out of sight for his left hand. For £295 you and guest can have the "Ultimate Tram Driving Experience" (although I do believe the guests is just a passenger although does help if the pole needs turning at the end of the run). This looks idyllic on such a day but you image an 8hr+hr shift on the streets in the old days in winter!
Brian Walbey: I thunk your correct about it being the brake Alan. It must have been an awful job in winter weather.
Great viewpoint, Brian!
Brian Walbey: The luck of being first in the queue to get on Tom.
