this is a wonderful compositions Brian...
i like the layers of flower beds in the foreground...
a hint of the fountain on the side...
the wonderful architecture and the hill behind....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter, Chatsworth is one of the most popular stately homes in England, and is in a lovely setting as the full series will show.
Very nice shot... I love the flora, and the handsome estates
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth. You must get Frank to bring you down to Chatsworth on one of your flying visits to the U.K., it is a beautiful house and grounds.

All good, Brian, but I especially like that treed undulation at the back.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray. You will get a better idea of the scenery on the other side of the house in the full series.

A fine and wonderful place Brian. I like the teasing aspect to this shot
Brian Walbey: It is magnificent Chris, and an ideal place for an SC meet up if people were prepared to perhaps stop over somewhere nearby to make it worth the trip. It is a deliberate teaser although Tracy, Ginnie and Astrid are quite familiar with Chatsworth from earlier visits over here.

You certainly get around, Brian
Brian Walbey: Well we had four holidays this year Lisl and I take a lot of pictures, partly for series to put on SC. I am currently posted until early February and then have my next lot, up to early July, ready to upload, with another month or two's to sort out after that. Then I think I might be finished with 2015's.photos!

An unusual view. Despite being in the area on several occasions, I've never found the house open; I assume they don't want muddy feet on the carpet so close during the winter. I expect it is hugely popular during the normal tourist season.
Brian Walbey: We have been there three times but can't get up enough enthusiasm to go into the house. Whilst paintings, sculptures, furniture et al.can be interesting we find some of these places suffer from overkill at times. They have the house open near Christmas for special seasonal events but in general don't do much in the winter, rather like the NT.

I had the privilege to have been there a few times with Tracy and Ginnie. A wonderful place and a walk through the gardens is a delight.
Brian Walbey: I posted this especially today as I know you and Ginnie come on to SC on Mondays and I hoped it brought back a nice memory or two. The gardens are beautiful, we haven't yet been in the house.
Beautifully presented to us, Brian. I love knowing Astrid and I shared seeing it together all those years ago. smile

The gardens are beautiful, we haven't yet been in the house. I took so many pictures in the gardens I've had to be very choosy as to what I include in the series later on otherwise it could go on for weeks on end!!
Such a wonderful composition Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, it is a wonderful place as I hope my series will show when it comes.

This is like "Upcoming Attractions" in the old movies. Next could be Pathè Journal smile Looks promising, in the mean time.
Brian Walbey: That is just what it is Louis, an addendum to a similar previews series I done in the autumn, and I haven't actually posted all them yet, I must take too many photos!!

I have been there - long, long ago - a wonderful reminder! I visited also the interior. Yes, it is 'hugely popular' and very busy.
Brian Walbey: I thought you had been to Chatsworth Philine, we decided not to go inside this time, we still have that to do, fortunately Chatsworth is only about an hour and a half from us.
Love the bright red leaves here.
Brian Walbey: I thought they made a good foreground for this image, and as it is a 'preview' it means I'm not giving too much away smile
Chatsworth is well worth going round Brian.
Brian Walbey: In three visits we have still not been in the house, whilst paintings, sculptures, furniture et al.can be interesting we find some of these places suffer from overkill at times, it would be nice to see small parts of the house at different times rather than the whole lot at once, but that would be rather an expensive option.
A great place for pics!
Brian Walbey: It certainly is Tom.
