Ashford-In-The-Water Church 6/7

Two rather nice items in the church make up this pair of images. On the left is the pulpit and hexagonal sounding board on the right of the nave are made of fine old oak. The Jacobean panels date from c1620, and in 1843 were made by local joiners into a pulpit with a reading desk below. The sounding board was restored in 1996. On the right I was able to set this cross against the altar and the stained glass window in Thursdays posting, but this time, from a better angle you can see more of the detail of the glasswork.

Two fine images, Brian, showing more of the detail. I've heard of a sounding board before but never really considered what it was; now I know!
Brian Walbey: I didn't know they were called sounding boards until a year or two ago when i was looking at information for another picture.
