photoblog image Newtown Linford Church

Newtown Linford Church

We had a pleasant walk through Bradgate Park near Leicester one lovely Saturday in January and among the photos I took was this one of All Saints Church at Newtown Linford where the main entrance to the park is. Sadly the church isn’t open to the general public, probably because thousands of visitors go there every year and I guess there might be security issues. This is proper HDR using RAW originals and Photomatix Essentials.

Seems the shadows are rather long for 1315, Brian.
Brian Walbey: We have a very low sun at that time of year Ray.

You can't beat a nice HRD processed shot Brian. Do you use ShiftN too?
Brian Walbey: I now realise it has a bit of a blue cast that I should have dealt with. I use ShiftN quite a lot, I prefer it to the tools in Photoshop etc.for straightening things up.
great colors
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chantal, I now realise it has a bit of blue cast!!

Even from the thumbnail, I thought "HDR" smile One thing I like about England, especially, is our fine collection of churches. Often it;s the only part of a village that often remains in "the good old days" before cars and satellite dishes wrecked decent village photos.
Brian Walbey: Indeed Alan, but there are still plenty of fine churches about, as we both know, away from the big towns and cities.
Wonderful Brian! HDR works a treat here.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, although I now realise it has a bit of a blue cast I should have dealt with.
You had that much lovely green grass in January? The colours are quite blue.
Brian Walbey: Grass is one thing that never changes in our winters Mary, all the rain keeps it fresh. I realise now it has a bit of a blue cast I should have dealt with!
Always a shame when you can't go in. A lovely little church Brian and nicely presented
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet. This church is right next to a big car park for one of Leicestershire's most popular country parks and it might be tempting fate to have it unlocked with so many thousands of people every year passing by.
There is a strong blue cast to this Brian. I often use HDR for churches
Brian Walbey: I was playing about with multi exposure and omitted to take out the blue cast, I will have another play with it as I might send it off to a couple of local organisations to see if they are interested in using it.
