Devon Odds And Ends 5/7

Bill recently featured some images from the delightful coastal village of Beer, just along the coast from Sidmouth, and for my visit I had ideas of pictures of boats on the shore and all the paraphernalia that goes with them. As it turned out quite wet I only managed a couple of quick shots looking down on the bay but it does give you some idea of the photographic potential of the place.

Brian...I expect to see foaming pints in a place called Beer!
Brian Walbey: Well I seem to recall a pub just down the road smile
Those cliffs are wonderful, aren't they! I like that you captured the colorful boats as well!
Brian Walbey: Yes it is a lovely place, I grabbed this shot in pouring rain!!
This is a wonderful composition Brian... i think that the boats are all hibernating until spring....petersmile
Brian Walbey: It's a good viewpoint Peter. yes the boats are wrapped up for winter.
I like your composition Brian. The boats are patientely waiting for Spring to come!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard. They were going to have a long wait for spring, this was only October.
I can't imagine any coastline in England that doesn't have photographic potential, Brian, no matter how wet the day! smile
Brian Walbey: We have so many different types of coastline around the U.K., each has its own delights, and in some cases, not so nice bits.

It's a lovely place, I have taken many versions of this shot over the years
Brian Walbey: I would like to go there again one day when the weather is a bit kinder to me.
Beer is a delightful place and I had not been for many many years before we went last year.
Brian Walbey: Another place on the list of places to take Joseph.

I put on an almost identical view Brian - http://lisl.shutterchance.com/image/2012/09/19/beer-beach/?sort=title&order=asc
except your is the sharper of the two, and taken at a different time of year when a lot of the boats were covered
Brian Walbey: Being much more active and fitter than me Lisl you climbed up the hillside whilst I took the lazy persons view from down below.

Beer is wonderful Brian but, and I know it is impossible to achieve, imagine how much better this scene would be without all the human junk littering the beach.
Brian Walbey: Without all the boats it might well look like a Cornish cove or similar.
ncie place in sumemr I pressume
Brian Walbey: A nice place anytime Chantal if it isn't pouring with rain, which it was when I took this!!!!
Looks like a nice place to explore.
Brian Walbey: On a nice day definitely Mary, the village leading down to the beach is very nice as well.
I like your version of this well known scene Brian. Very clear and fresh looking
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet, the freshness comes from the rain falling at the time (:
This is beautiful Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ronky, a nice part of our coastline.

Great viewpoint Brian, we've been a few times but never seen the beach this busy.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mike, I presume most of the boats were laid up for winter.
Good view Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks John, bet I could do in the weather conditions.

Oh of the highlights for me this summer was my first proper visit to Beer, accompanied by Miss Tripod Carrier; we had brunch on the beach. My previous visit was some 48 years earlier when I had cycled through Beer on my way to Truro. Happy days!
Brian Walbey: Lucky you Alan, on oru visit the beach was definitely not on the menu. That must have been a long cycle ride to Truro, I guess you done it over several days.
