Breedon On The Hill Church (1/7)

A short distance from our home is the small village of Breedon on the Hill, Leicestershire, and apart from an excellent garden centre and a couple of good eateries the village is famous for the parish church of St.Mary and St.Hardulph set on the top of a limestone outcrop some 400 ft.(120 metres) above sea level which can be seen from many miles around.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth, this is a very much photographed church so I tried a slightly different angle.
She's a beauty, Brian. I wonder if I'll ever be in your neck of the woods one day???
Brian Walbey: It is a lovely church Ginnie, wait till you see the inside on Wednesday. I would love for you to be in our neck of the woods one day, it would take an age to show you everything round our way, it is considerably different in places to the area round Chris and Lisl's.

I never heard the name of St. Hardulph! A wonderful church set on the top of a limestone outcrop - like a lighthouse!
Brian Walbey: I hadn't heard of St.Hardulph either. This church can be seen from almost every direction for miles around. I think you will like the inside later in the week.

I presume we will gain an understanding of what makes this church famous Brian.
Brian Walbey: Yes later in the week Chad.
There is a lovely shape to this church.
Brian Walbey: It has an interesting history, more of that during the week, which is the reason it is this particular shape.
A handsome looking church Brian
Brian Walbey: It is Bill, with an interesting history, and a very popular place to visit.
What a beautiful perspective leading to this church Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, it is photographed so much that I thought this composition might be slightly different.

A high point of Leicestershire, I guess. Not heard of St. Hardulph before. It's a wonderful-looking church, though.
Brian Walbey: Not really a high point Alan but this picture gives some idea of its situation. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2315536
