STANDING PROUD

Ashford-in-the-Water is a very popular stopping off point in the Peak District and I will show you more of there another time. There is a nice river and stone bridge and while I stood there taking in the scene this very sociable duck decided to come and stand alongside me.

I am guessing she was studying your Olympus kit, Brian...not so common these days.
Brian Walbey: Not so common but still among the best I feel. I would like to upgrade to the latest OM series but can't justify spending the money to be honest, one thing about Olympus though is the quality of the lenses, but they are quite expensive!!
He is a handsome youngster Brian... i have a family of six chicks and their Mum visit under our bird feeder all summer long... and they all have that blue stripe of feathers under their wings... great close-up....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Yes a fine duck isn't it. It must have been fun to see the ducklings growing up through the summer.
Great portrait of this handsome fella Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard.

Lovely - I think she wanted to share your lunch Brian
Brian Walbey: Then she would have gone hungry, we had nought but a packet of sweets in the car at that time.

Thinking you would provide some food I guess
Brian Walbey: Then she would have gone hungry, we had nought but a packet of sweets in the car at that time.
A goose won wildlife picture of the year Brian...you should have entered this
Brian Walbey: I did send a picture in last year for 2014 but of course never got selected. This is what I was up to on Monday https://www.facebook.com/SpottedShepshed/photos/pb.187369471410464.-2207520000.1409845639./371731696307573/?type=1&theater and we all felt that whilst some of the selected pictures were very good there were a couple that left a bit to be desired, especially the one of shells on the beach.

The duck looks like a self-confident lady. She loved you. A fine close-up! Your judge would be content with you!
Brian Walbey: He, or she, sat there quite happily while I took my picture, but where I am gets thousands of visitors every year so I guess it is used to humans by now.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin.

She was inviting you to do this, Brian
Brian Walbey: Just used to having visitors Lisl, this village is a very busy one during the tourist season.
She is a beauty. I would say she was hoping for a handout.
Brian Walbey: Yes a fine Duck but all we had was a bag of sweets in the car.
very good close up
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chantal.
She struck a posesmile
Brian Walbey: She certainly did John.
Love it, Brian - fine image - she's posing nicely for you!
Brian Walbey: She certainly is Tom.

I have a feeling it may have been after food rather than stopping off for a chat wink You've captured her colourings well.
Brian Walbey: Usually it's food their after I guess.
Isn't she beautiful!!! Wonderful shot, Brian!!!
Brian Walbey: Yes a fine looking lady duck Elizabeth.
