SUNDAY’S BLOOMERS

Last year we went on a coach outing to Oxburgh Hall, a National Trust property in Norfolk, and from where I posted a series on SC.some time ago. They have quite an extensive vegetable garden with a group of scarecrows dressed in the form of servants. We both liked this one of the kitchen maid hanging out the washing, there being a pair of bloomers for each day of the week. We are both standing behind Sunday’s.

Very good, Brian...but, I don't see the pumpkins underfoot...
Brian Walbey: Just as well Ray, not my favourite vegetable.

A wonderful image Brian. I suppose women wore these things in all seriousness once!
Brian Walbey: I guess they did Chris, weren't they known as 'passion killers'.

Great shot. I wonder why the Sunday bloomers are not more fancy than the rest of the week wink.
Brian Walbey: I don't think they done 'fancy' in those days Astrid.
They are commodious looking bloomers
Brian Walbey: 'Harvest Festivals', all is safely gathered in smile
LOL, funny idea
Brian Walbey: It brought a smile to our lips Chantal.

Haha - first I thought we are in WWordsworth' house in Cockermouth - but then I read your information - lovely, funny photos of you both and funny underpants which might be too big for you both! 'Bloomers' is a very sweet noun!
Brian Walbey: We thought these were really amusing they used to be know as 'passion killers', I'll leave you to work out why smile
Thank goodness we don't have to wear these bloomers today. They would hang below my skirts.
Brian Walbey: I'm sure most ladies say that Mary, and they must have been very uncomfortable.
Haha, great idea to keep the birds out of the vegetable garden, Brian. This is not your run of the mill scarecrow.
Brian Walbey: There are several different scarecrows dressed up as gardeners and butlers and even one dresses as Queen Victoria.

Oh, we know a similar word "Liebestöter"/ love killer - and I know why!
Brian Walbey: Being a Sunday perhaps we shouldn't take this discussion any further Philine smile
