Centre image dominates, Brian...it has the nicest ceiling.
Brian Walbey: The centre was taken after the Sun came out, the others before, hence the different ceilings smile
I love symmetry- I'd love to walk through these arches!
Brian Walbey: I've suggested to Frank you both might enjoy a visit to Fountains Abbey, not all that far from where he lives.

Very impressive pictures. This must have been quite a building back then.
Great shadows in the middle one.
Brian Walbey: Wouldn't it be great to peer back in time and see this place as it was, I often think that about old places.

It has withstood the elements well despite not having a roof
Brian Walbey: It certainly has Chris, the main shell of the building is really quite well preserved.
Sometimes I think the ruins are more spectacular than the original churches, Brian!
Brian Walbey: I know what you mean Ginnie, but, as I said to Astrid, it would be good to be able to peer back in time just to catch a glimpse of what it was like in days gone by.

It's good that so much has been preserved, Brian
Brian Walbey: It certainly is Lisl, but I've saved the very best bit for Friday.
Truly magnificent
Brian Walbey: And that's as a ruin Martin, what was the complete building like pre Henry VIII.

It must have been impressive back in the 14thC. So little on this scale outside the major cities.

It's all corridors Brian.
Brian Walbey: Sort of Chad.
This gives a good idea of its size - massive!
I like your triptych, Brian, very effective smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin, it was a very big place, with quite a lot of outbuildings as well.
This is a magnificent triptych Brian! Well done.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, this place is so nice that it is difficult to do it justice.
Looks very good done this way.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Mary.
I love this Collage Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ronky.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill.

A good presentation, Brian. It would be impossible to get a view like this with a single shot.
Brian Walbey: Indeed it would Alan, and I had to hang around a bit for all the shots while the GUW cleared out of my way.

This triptych is a very good presentation of Fountains Abbey!
