photoblog image Brimham Rocks 1/6

Brimham Rocks 1/6

My posting of 28th.April showed some Yorkshire Dales Countryside and the domes of an RAF monitoring station. From the same spot, and turning my camera to the right one finds this view of one of the natural wonders of the area. Known as Brimham Rocks this is the eastern edge of the area in which they are visible. More of this in detail during the week.

I've mentioned before a friend of mine, Brian Negus, who is Secretary of our camera club and who is also extremely visually impaired, but who takes amazing images.  This link takes you to a video he has recently put on his Flickr blog, not only did he take the images but also put the music together as well. Enjoy!

I saw Maureen yesterday afternoon and she had her operation first thing on Monday morning, which went well she understands, and by yesterday the immediate post-op discomforts had cleared up and she was feeling quite good. She should be out of bed today and hopefully home tomorrow.

Very interesting 'scape, Brian.

Also...good news regarding Maureen.
Brian Walbey: You will find the follow up shots even more interesting Ray. Maureen seems to have developed a very painful strained muscle in her right thigh just below the operation area and cannot try to walk so sadly we think she will be in a bit longer than was expected by us or the hospital. Her latest x-ray shows all is well with what has been done fortunately.

This is a really pretty shot!

I enjoyed Mr Negus' slideshow - he somehow gets his composition just right! Do you know what his visual impairment is?

Hooray for Maureen! Tell her to keep up the good work, and send her my love!

Thank you kindly for the picture & link Brian. I think Maureen's progress shows how far we've come in medicine over the years, hip ops are simply routine these days

Oe of the joys from the past weekend was of us showing the French organisers of the Tour De France just how beautiful Yorkshire is (especially after today's stage in the rain; the riders looked more like mountain bike riders with such dirt!). I'm looking forward to this series; these rocks are amazing.

I'll have to look at the video later. I'm behind with everything today.

Hip hip hooray for Maureen's operation smile
Brian Walbey: If you haven't been there you will find these rocks quite spectacular Alan tomorrow. This green area with the drystone walls is a joy for the eyes. I would like to visit Yorkshire Dales one day, it must be beautiful as I often heard.
My best wishes for Maureen, it is fantastic that she hopefully can come home tomorrow. I stayed for 12 days at the hospital after my first hip-op.
Brian Walbey: This is only a few miles west of Fountains Abbey where I believe you have been Philine. You will be glad to have her home Brian I am sure. Make sure she doesn't try and overdo it!

Know them well Brian. I had a lovely day there with my kids long ago. Happy memories.
Brian Walbey: They are quite spectacular aren't they.
A wonderful shot Brian.
Nice to hear the good news about Maureen!

Wonderful picture love the green.
The rocks and the little shed makes the picture.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Astrid, we really enjoyed being out in the countryside at this farm.
A lovely shot Brian. Glad to hear that Maureen is on the mend. Loved your friends video. If he is visually impaired, then he must be an amazing photographer as all the pictures looked wonderful. It exactly portrayed what carnival is all about - colour, enjoyment, being crazy and wonderful costumes.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Suzanne. Elizabeth, who is an Opthalmist of some sort, asked about Brian's visual issues and he has Optic Atrophy in both eyes which doesn't stop him leading a very full life, you can find a lot of his excleent pictures here https://www.flickr.com/photos/briannegus
The little foreground barn makes the shot, Brian. Hope all is going well.
Brian Walbey: I deliberately included the barn in that position for a bit of foreground interest. Maureen had a hiccup yesterday (Wednesday) but is a lot better today I understand.
