photoblog image A Birmingham Day Out 19/21

A Birmingham Day Out 19/21

MOORED UP (A BOAT FRIDAY SPECIAL)

Quickly back to one more shot I took at the Gas Street Canal Basin of five narrow boats moored up, a lovely little canal bridge and the old buildings behind. I will admit to cloning out some television aerials and hope you feel, like me, that the sepia finish gives it a slightly more old time look than modern colours would do.

You did a great job to make this look 'old'. Love the sepia.
Nice collection of narrow boats.
Brian Walbey: Thanks ASstrid, I think you and ginnie would enjoy a visit to this place.

Sepia works here Brian
Brian Walbey: I thought it was gave a bit more atmosphere.
Old-timey, indeed, Brian...even though it's hard for me to think of narrowboats without their gorgeous colors and designs. smile
Brian Walbey: One does see real old photos from time to time looking much like this, but lots more smoke and grime about of course.

Nothing like a good monochrome to unify a picture.
Brian Walbey: It seemed to be the right thing for this shot Mike.

Sepia and TV aerials wouldn't mix, Brian, so your enhancements are just right
Brian Walbey: They definitely wouldn't Lisl.
Nice sepia here Brian. Works well
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, it seemed more suitable.

I like your treatment Brian, even though it makes the water appear muddy.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chad, the water is a bit iffy anyway, I wouldn't want to swim in it.
Your sepia finish does work very nicely with this image, Brian. Like how you've included the couple on the far right with the gentleman pointing toward the narrow boats.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Beverly. The couple on the right are more of a bonus than intended to be honest.

Yes, well done, Brian; it has an old world feel to it. You could have cloned in a few flat hats on the people, though wink
Brian Walbey: Lol. That would certainly be the right attire for the area I should think in days gone by.
Yes it is a lovely little bridge and you certainly achieved the old time look Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet, the council has done its best to keep as much of the area looking old as it can.
Sepia works a treat here Brian! Well done.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, I thought it gave a bit more atmosphere of days gone by.
Works well - could be 19th century.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom, that was the effect I was trying for.
I do like the old time look, Brian. I especially like the light on the water.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary, I was hoping the sepia would help and most of you think it does.
