A Birmingham Day Out 10/21

WORKING LUNCH

We took a break in Cafe Nero for a coffee and bite of lunch and I managed to take a shot of this guy busy with his laptop after finishing his lunch. Taken using LiveView on my Olympus E450 DSLR with the camera on my knee and a nonchalant look on my face.

Brian...the Church Picture guy...reborn as a Street Photog!
Brian Walbey: Only sort of Ray, I'm not brave enough to do street photography like some of you do.

HA, that is the way to do it. However the 'innocent face' might give you away grin...
Great shot.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Astrid, I'm not brave when it comes to this type of photo, I found great difficulty in taking the one I am posting tomorrow.

Nice shot of a modern guy at work Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, but does one actually enjoy the food while messing about with a laptop?
I would have loved getting a shot of YOU with that nonchalant look on your face, Brian! smile
Brian Walbey: Obviously I didn't look nonchalant enough at Cosford then Ginnie, next time perhaps smile

'after finishing his lunch' is okay- I saw often 'during the lunch'. I like your funny words!
Brian Walbey: I'm just not brave enough for proper candid pictures Philine so I have to do it very slyly.

I must practice my nonchalant look - good angle though.
Brian Walbey: That's about the only way I can do candid Mike, shame the chair was in the way though.
Ha, been there, done that! Good shot, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frank, I'm not a brave candid photographer like Michael and Richard are.
The Starbucks pose
Brian Walbey: Starbucks, Cafe Nero, Costa Coffee, they all have people doing just what this guy is.

I like your behaviour. "What you do not wish to be done to yourself, do not do to others."
Brian Walbey: I'm not worried about people taking pictures of me usually Philine, as long as they are not for nefarious purposes.
Good stolen shot Brian smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much John.
The more shots you take like this, Brian, the braver you'll become.
Brian Walbey: Mm, I'm not sure about that Beverly, time will tell.

I like the coffee in cafe Nero Brian, thanks for the reminder.
Brian Walbey: So did we Chad, the first time we've been in one. We've never been in Costa Coffee or any of these other modern chains to be honest.
Nice one Brian...He's probably on his way to catch the train next!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ronky, he wasn't far from the station that's for sure.

Great shot...but i try to leave the internet alone once i leave the house......and enjoy my surroundings brian smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Shane. I've got a tablet computer but no 3G or 4G so I'm much like yourself in that respect, although it was handy to have wi-fi in a cottage we rented in Derbyshire last week.
I did something similar in Tossa de Mar. Nice candid Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet, I can only take pictures like this surreptitiously.
I'm sure you did nonchalant to the manner born, Brian smile
Brian Walbey: I'm sure I did Tom, I took some others in the same way but they were rubbish to be honest.
Great candid capture Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard.
Good job - he doesn't seem to have noticed you!
Brian Walbey: It's about the only way I can take candid shots Elizabeth, as you now know I am a very shy person smile

Very good and very brave , Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, I will never be able to match your skill at taking candid shots.
Well done Brian. If he only knew!
Brian Walbey: About the only way I can approach taking candids Bill.

That's my style of photography, too, in such a situation. I don't have the nerve to make it more obvious. I always seek out such coffee shops to use their wifi - and their loos wink Costa is my preference, though.
Brian Walbey: I haven't got the nerve either Alan. We'd not been in a Cafe Nero before and have never been in a Costa or any other of these chain coffee shops, we much prefer individual cafes if there are any around.
