Reflective Birmingham 3/7

SYMPHONY HALL REFLECTION

Following on from yesterday this is the whole of one side of Birmingham Symphony Hall and as you can see there is a whole bundle of different surrounding buildings being reflected in its glass. We went to a concert of massed male voice choirs here some years ago, it is a very fine concert hall in all ways.  To me this looks just like a very large building with an oversize television screen built in to it.

Looks like it was made from leftovers from other city projects, Brian, and someone on the building committee said "let's have a forest of those horrid bollards and call it a feature".

Nice reflection, though.
Brian Walbey: Yes not the most attractive of buildings but I have seen worse.
I understand you description - but those reflections are really wonderful!
Brian Walbey: Such a variety of reflections and as one walks round they change according to the angle you are looking at them.

I can say i,ve seen it...but never been inside ....great reflections......must be bright when the sun hits it
Brian Walbey: I went to a concert there back in the 90's, a lovely place inside.
I can see the "oversize television screen" idea, Brian. Indeed!
Brian Walbey: And its reflections change as one walks about according to the angle of what is being reflected.

Yes, you are right - an oversize tv screen - but fascinating with all the reflections! I think there is a famous orchestra in Birmingham.
Brian Walbey: I was quite amazed by these reflections and took a lot of different pictures at various angles. There is a famous orchestra, the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra http://www.cbso.co.uk/

I went inside once, it is very impressive within
Brian Walbey: When I belonged to Loughborough Male Voice Choir I arranged a visit to a concert of massed male voices, led by the London Welsh MVC., it was a brilliant concert in a very good hall.
The angles of the mirrored glass are awesome for the views they reflect back.
Brian Walbey: And they are ever changing according to the angle you are looking at them.
great angle
Brian Walbey: The reflection changes at each different angle one stands.
Very impressive.
Brian Walbey: Thanks again Suzanne.
I like the floor patterns Brian! lovely!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ronke, they do look good.
The reflection is very interesting
Brian Walbey: A real mixed bag of reflections.

This is a fine auditorium Brian, second city does not have to mean second best.
Brian Walbey: It is very good inside also Chad, sadly everything, including the arts, revolves round London most of the time.

A fine reflection Brian. I love the Symphony Hall in Brum
