The Cosford Gathering - 2014 1/3

What a lovely afternoon we all had at RAF Cosford on 11th.May, not least because those of us who had been to previous get-togethers were able to welcome even more new friends from the Shutterchance community, some of whom had travelled thousands of miles to get here, with the help and generosity of so many others.

The big surprise of the day for most of us was meeting Ray, who had made the long journey all the way from Thailand, and here you see him chatting to Peter and Penny from the other side of the world to him, and of course we also able to meet Frank’s ‘best girl’ Elizabeth who timed her latest visit to coincide with the get-together.  It didn’t take long for them to get chatting with among others Chad and Martin Robinson seen here, and I would like to say a big thanks to Peter and Penny for spending the Friday evening with Maureen and me even if we did drive miles to find a restaurant, a very enjoyable evening.

Very nice montage, Brian.

The locals sure made the visitors feel part of a family.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray, I'm so glad you feel that way, everybody was pleased to see everybody else wherever they came from, hopefully it won't be for the last time.

That Sunday was a great & memorable day Brian. Keeping Ray's presence a secret certainly paid dividends. Chad and I got him to meet Astrid & Ginnie at Bristol airport whilst we hid - you should have seen their faces!
Brian Walbey: A great day Chris. I heard about the airport, I understand Ginnie was surprised when this strange gentleman started getting 'up and close' with her.

It was an occasion to savour until the next time Brian.
Brian Walbey: Indeed it was Chad, and I hope there will be a next time, it is such a nice group of people to spend time with.
What a fabulous way to present these Kodak Moments, Brian. Well done.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, some more tomorrow and Wednesday. Chris told me about your arrival at the airport and the 'strange man' that greeted you, Ray's as bad as Chris and Chad isn't he smile
Lovely memories Brian - such a great day! I do like your presentation smile
Brian Walbey: It was a good day Martin, some more pictures tomorrow and Wednesday.

Yes, a very nice collage and I like to see talking them to each other - in English, of course! Chad seems to be mesmerized by Elizabeth's beauty - and Ray looks quite younger, almost like a big boy, than on other photos I saw.
Oh, I want to see Astrid's and Ginnie's amazing faces at Bristol Airport!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Philine, some more pictures tomorrow and Wednesday. Chris told me about the arrival at the airport and the 'strange man' that greeted Astrid and Ginnie, Ray's as bad as Chris and Chad isn't he smile
Love how this is put together, Brian. Good Job!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary, some more pictures tomorrow and Wednesday.
I see Peter and Penny.
Brian Walbey: Indeed Chantal, Maureen and I went out for the evening with them on Friday, their hotel was quite close to ours, they are a very nice couple. Some more pictures tomorrow and Wednesday.
Thanks for the background commentary for those of us who were unable to make it, Brian. Love how you've presented this selection of images.

Well done, Brian. A fine collection of photos showing our overseas friends. I was thrilled when I quickly realised that the mad Australian who tried to jump the queue at the car park ticket machine was dear Ray. I hope Ginnie and Astrid soon recovered from the shock on their arrival smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, some more pictures tomorrow and Wednesday. It was a typical Chad and Chris idea at the airport one must say, I bet a good laugh was had all round.
Lovely collection Brian, great to see so many faces together.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Scotia, some more pictures tomorrow and Wednesday.

We didn't drive miles to find dinner in Iron Bridge Brian... we just drove the same two miles six times grin
thanks for the hospitality from Maureen and you....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Lol. It felt like miles, and on Monday, with a map, we drove straight to Ironbridge, unfortunately it was pouring with rain so we made our way back home early in the afternoon.

I like the way you've laid these out, Brian - and am mystified as to how you did it! Very clever. It was a great get-together, for sure.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Penny, yes it was great to meet all you people, I admire those who made long journeys from overseas. I use Photoshop to do my collages, there is a function called 'Layers' which you may have heard of. Several other editing programmes have the same ability if you haven't got PS.but might be interested in doing this technique.
Terrific montage Brian!!! Great pics of all these wonderful people!!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth, I never imagined that I would ever meet all you folks from overseas in these pictures, I wasn't disappointed.
