Ashby Show - Miscellaneous 5/7

Taken at the annual Ashby Show, near Ashby-de-la-Zouch in July. As always with such events there was a gymkhana going on and as I hadn’t ever tried to photograph anything like this before I took a few shots. This was probably the best of the lot, and I was only using my Canon G10, not the ideal camera for this sort of thing.

Great shot..a focused team

You have caught the action perfectly here Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, I hadn't expected much from a compact even though it is a top of the range one.

Great action here, I love the way you captures this. Great focus and overview.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Astrid, if I can do this with a compact then I really ought to try it with my DSLR.

You'd be surprised what those cameras can do nowadays, Brian. Great action shot!
Brian Walbey: Indeed Ginnie, I'm very pleased seeing as the camera was a compact, albeit a very good one.
high jump, will he succeed?
Brian Walbey: Yes they did and went on to jump a few more.

Brian Walbey: Thanks very much vintage.
Superb action shot Brian! Well done.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Richard.
You did well,Brian, the Canon isn't the best for this is it,the auto focus is a bit slow,( I found out! ) But you couldn't have caught this better.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frank, I took quite a few and they were all o.k.on the focusing but not the position in the frame, this was the best one.

Looks good to me, Brian. Just at the right time, too; even with a little dust from the back hooves.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, this was the best of the bunch, some of the others were out on my timing.
This is a fantastic action shot, Brian. A high jumper who, no doubt, cleared the hurdle with ease.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Beverly, I recall this one managed to get round without any penalties.

For what I know about the subject she could win Horse of the Year show Brian.
Brian Walbey: I don't think they were quite up to that level Chad, but then I don't know much about the sport either.
Not a bad result at all Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, I was quite pleased for a first try.
A well "determined" image Brian... love the action here.. nicely captured
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much.
what a shot! excellent timing. the horse seems to be doing it efficiently and effortlessly. incidentally, yesterday was the Chinese New Year, marking the start of the Year of the Horse.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ayush, my first try at show jumping photography.
