Ashby Show - People 5/7

Taken at the annual Ashby Show, near Ashby-de-la-Zouch in July. We do our art with a camera but there are thousands of people who’s talent is with paint brushes, just like this lady. Unfortunately I got a bit of a mount in the bottom corner but that is something that goes with taking this type of picture.

The "impediment" in the bottom actual conveys a message that this lady is playing in her workshop, Brian...I like it there.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray, it does convey that message, she had quite a lot of kit standing about.
A wonderful portrait of the artist at work... she apparently makes her own clothes as well - her head band is of the same material as her dress.
Brian Walbey: Only another lady would notice that about the headband Elizabeth, thanks for your comment.
Shes good ...very good ...i like this....so much detail
Brian Walbey: Yes it is quite a good painting I thought also.

A fine action shot Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, I envy people who can paint, I've never been much good at it.

WOW! She's good, Brian. And so are you, mount or no mount.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, but I couldn't paint like this, ever!

This has to be the most interesting of all your fascinating show shots, Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Lisl, she seems to be a very good artist doesn't she.
She is obviously very talented Brian. I like the bovine face in the background.

And it is said that painters are true artists as they create out of nothing, whereas photographers need something to capture and present to viewers.
Brian Walbey: She does look very good Ayush. A judge at my club the other night remarked of one picture that the artist had produced the work, the photographer merely recorded it.

Nice picture of a painter and her picture.
I have just read your blurb' Brian ... and you drew my attention to the dilemna as to whether photography can be considered fine art. I was given a book for Christmas that has a good collection of essays written by John Berger on the subject of photography. one essay discusses the subject of whether photography can be validly considered art. A good theme to be discussed over a few beers.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard. A judge at my club the other night remarked of one picture that the artist had produced the work, the photographer merely recorded it, I guess he isn't far wrong, almost everything we photograph has been produced by somebody or something.
Good picture of the artist at work Brian. £95 for a picture of a cow?
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill. Have you ever seen what some of these photographers charge for copies of their prints in galleries, I've sold a couple and only charged £12, ie.costs plus a little for myself, I thought that was quite fair.
She's very good Brian! I like your shot smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Martin.

This would have been perfect for a Saturday.
Brian Walbey: Indeed it would Mary, I hadn't thought of that.

I wish I had a talent like that
Brian Walbey: So do I vintage, never will I ever be able to paint like that.
I like how all the paintings of animals that she has on display here seem to be head shots. You've captured her concentration as she puts the finishing touches to the cat portrait very well, indeed, Brian.
Brian Walbey: I guess animal heads must be her speciality Beverly, I'v never been that talented with a paint brush, not even domestic ones smile
That's talent Brian! thanks for showcasing this!
Brian Walbey: Indeed Ronke, I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Her flower painted dress and head band really add to the image too.
Brian Walbey: Indeed they are certainly very colourful.

She does look the Bohemian arty type. I wish I had her skills. perhaps if I spend £60 on the course that's advertised, perhaps I will. At least I would hope for a decent lunch.
Brian Walbey: I don't think nay number of £60 courses would help me get anywhere near proficient in painting.
