Out Of The Ordinary 3/7

Studley Royal is a National Trust property near to Fountains Abbey and there are quite a few sculptures about the place, mainly in the pseudo Greek style, and I took several shots of this one, indeed I achieved second place in a recent Club competition with a another version of this I called The Wrestlers ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/shepshedcameraclub/10994820526/in/set-72157638076119034 ) Of the several I took this is the one that turned out to be “The Bum Shot” (Big groan!)

They are both really great images, the one you won 2nd for is particularly good!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth, I have shown this one at the club, but not in a competition, for obvious reasons.

This is a fine composition Brian, helped by the temple in the background
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris.

I can see why you received an award for the other one, Brian, but this, too, is a fine POV. Wrestlers would love having a model of this in their room, I'm sure. smile
Brian Walbey: I'm sure they would Ginnie, but not one this big and heavy.
a strange statue I admit
Brian Walbey: Indeed but from all angles the modelling of the sculpture is excellent.

The other might have been a prize-winner, but I can see why you chose this one for your joke.
Brian Walbey: Not a competition shot Lisl although I have shown this one at the club just for the fun of it.

I like this bum shot. The Greek architecture in the background makes us think we are in Greece. The statue reminds me of when my youngest was 14 - 16 and his whole gang of friends were into wrestling.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary. There are quite a few Greek style sculptures at this place but I found this one the most photogenic.

You just had to say it Brian.
Brian Walbey: Indeed I did Chad smile
Nice one Brian. Fountains abbey and Studley Royal are just wonderful. I wish I lived nearer as I would be there regularly grin
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill. we liked Fountains Abbey, somewhere I've wanted to go for a long time, but found Studley Royal less exciting, mind you it was quite dull by that time.
Both look good shots to me, Brian smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin.
Nice shot, Brian, this wouldn't last long around here, lots of statues have been stolen, and some removed, and replaced with fibre glass ones.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frank. I guess this one would be quite heavy to move, and it isn't an easy place to get a vehicle up to.
Now this is really out of the ordinary Brian.... well done!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much, this angle is very much tongue in cheek.
I like how you've included the lovely background in this shot, Brian as it really enhances the image of the wrestlers. Congrats on winning a prize for the other version.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Beverly. This was of course the humorous version, I have shown it at my club for entertainment only purposes.
Excellent framing ! Nicely done capture !
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Bruno.

Oh dear! Well boys will be boys, I suppose smile What a great shame that some idiots have made their own marks on this; I really can't understand why they do that. Well done on your second place, Brian, with your other image.
Brian Walbey: I think those marks are generally weathering Alan, all the statues have been here for a long time, and Studley Royal is not somewhere that unruly elements are likely to visit I would think.
Very nicely captured with the appropriate background Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, a more detailed shot of the background will be forthcoming later this year.
Excellent shot, Brian - first place against the other shot must have been a real goodie to beat it!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Tom. Hopefully you have received a link to the winning shot from me.
Congrats on your > other photo Brian. It's really a good shot.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Jacquelyn.
