The Shakesperian Express 4/4

Following our arrival back in Stratford-Upon-Avon from Birmingham on this steam excursion on the national network the locomotive, 4965 Rood Ashton Hall had to run round the train to be at the front for the return journey to Birmingham. This was a really good train ride, not too expensive, well worth the money, and at one part of the journey this locomotive was hauling us along at 75mph. (120kph.), not bad for an old girl like her.

I like it when you catch the steam...
Never underestimate old girls!
Brian Walbey: I was in just the right spot to catch this old girl Elizabeth. There's a saying about old girls, and old men, something about a good tune, I will say no more, I'm blushing already smile

Lovely locomotives were the GW Halls, maids of all work
Brian Walbey: Indeed they were Chris, I guess they were the GWR equivalent to B1's.on the lNER and Black 5's on the LMS.

That's the way to do it; sounds like a good day out. She looks straight out of the paintshop.
Brian Walbey: It was a very good day out Alan, there wasn't a seat to spare on the train, although tickets have to be booked in advance. It was £25 return for the two of us which we thought was very reasonable.
This is a wonderful capture as the Express goes under the bridge Brian... i love the polished brass of these wonderful locomotives....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter, it was in an ideal place for a picture.
