Canal Collection 2/4

Following on from yesterday the ladies sailing the narrow boat Ethel May took a turn in to the Coventry Canal, and shortly after doing so this hand operated swing bridge had to be dealt with. I had a few words with this lady and they were spending several days enjoying travelling a selection of the Midlands canals.  I made my 1st.posting on Shutterchance 6 years ago today, 1894 postings later I'm still going strong, I hope!

This is a good shot to show that swing bridge...
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth, and I had a very pleasant chat with the lady as well who didn't mind at all me taking her photo.

I like your point of view here using the bridge as a lead-in.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, she was a very obliging lady, in the nicest possible way.

Well done on six years, by the way. Here's to the next six... and the six after that..
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, if I go another 12 I really will be a Grumpy Old Man by then.

A fine, powerful scene and beautiful narrowboats! Friends of mine spend more than a week to travel along the English canals by boat - and they were happy!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Philine. I had a short chat with this lady who said they were really enjoying their holiday. They were on the way to Coventry, where of course you went earlier this year.

Very good shot with the perfect composition. I must look up to see how long I've been here.

Ah! Thank you Brian for explainers what the term 'swingers' means.

1894 for a moment I thought that was when you were born but then I realised [grin]
Brian Walbey: I thought there was only one type of "swinger" Richard, or am I missing something here smile
Good action shot, Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom.
My mother was christened Ethel May although she was always known as Peggy
Brian Walbey: Strange that, my paternal granny was Mary Rose, but was always known as Polly, I didn't know that until I saw her gravestone some months after her funeral.
Congrats on your 6 years on SC.
Gosh... I'd love a ride on a boat like this. Maybe one day.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Jacquelyn. Take a U.K.holiday and hire one of these for a few days while your here sounds like a good idea.
Great composition and sense of movement, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Graeme.
