photoblog image Lake District Leftovers #3

Lake District Leftovers #3

One that didn’t make it in the series earlier this year. Further along Derwentwater from where the two previous images were taken was one of the landing stages where the tourist boats sail to and from, but bearing in mind the cold and damp conditions this group looked decidedly uncomfortable as they waited for the next launch to come along.

Yes...they do not seem comfortable, Brian.
Brian Walbey: It was blowing a fair old wind down the lake Ray.
Great shot - it illustrates your point nicely!
Brian Walbey: It was blowing quite a strong wind down the lake, not the best day for a cruise.
it must be cold judging from the layers of the protection they have. i love the densely packed vegetation on the other side though
Brian Walbey: It was blowing quite a strong wind down the lake, not the best day for a cruise. Those trees are on one of the little islands in the lake.

But they do add charm to the image, Brian!
Brian Walbey: I guess that's one way of putting a name to their obvious discomfort Ginnie, it was blowing quite a strong wind down the lake, not the best day for a cruise.
The woman in white (That was a good book)looks frozen Brian!
Brian Walbey: I think they all were to be honest Bill. I'm not familiar with that book, even after finding an item about it on Wikki.

I bet it was chilly on the water, too, Brian

I don't envy them being out in the cold. I will be out there soon enough on my way to work - after I clean the snow off the car.
Brian Walbey: It was blowing quite a strong wind down the lake, not the best day for a cruise. Sorry to hear you've got the snow now, we have quite a mild period going on at the moment, long may it remain so.
It does look a tad chilly,Brian.
Brian Walbey: It was blowing quite a strong wind down the lake, not the best day for a cruise. No doubt you will be familiar with cold weather up that way.

They looked a bit miserable Brian.

Out on a limbÂ…..a fine shot Brian smile
Brian Walbey: It was blowing quite a strong wind down the lake, not the best day for a cruise, they must have been freezing, we weren't all that warm on the footpath.

'' Hells bells we've been waiting here for hours for the the ferry''
Brian Walbey: it probably felt like that to them, there wasn't a moving launch in sight!
seems they are freezing there
Brian Walbey: Indeed they were Previ, it was cold enough out of the wind.
and it just gets better!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much.
Waiting for the ferry? Chilly place to wait
Brian Walbey: It was very chilly that morning.
Your picture shows very well that they are uncomfortable Brian! Fine capture.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, it was cold under the trees on the edge of the lake so I know it would be on the landing stage.

We found to our cost last November that despite what the signs say, the boats don't run if it's too windy! We waited for nearly two hours before giving up.
Brian Walbey: There didn't seem to be many running on that Sunday, and that was with the annual Folk/Jazz Festival going on and the start of the big Cross Country pursuits festival about to start, so there was a lot of people about.
