photoblog image Lake District Leftovers #1

Lake District Leftovers #1

One that didn’t make it in the series earlier this year. The first full day (Sunday) in Keswick was quite cold, damp and miserable weather wise but we still strolled down to Derwentwater and as we approached the waters edge I felt this couple were in just the right position to make quite a nice composition.

the weather may have been miserable but the lushness comes across quite nicely here Brian. i quite like the wooden house on the island across
Brian Walbey: Yes the dull weather doesn't take away the beauty of this place.
Indeed they were! I like this angle on the Fells!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth, even though it was dull and a bit cold the beauty of the Lakes and mountains is still obvious to us.

Yes!

Excellent with the human animals in the foreground pastures, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray, spot on the the thirds as they should be for a shot of this type.

They certainly add to the picture, Brian
Brian Walbey: It wouldn't have worked quite the same without them.

Is that an inhabited island out there I wonder Brian?
Brian Walbey: I think it must be Chris, what a place to live.

They do give "scale" to the sense of cold, damp and miserable weather, Brian!
Brian Walbey: Indeed they do Ginnie, but I do feel the dull and cold doesn't take away the beauty of this place.

Oh, my beloves Lakes - I like this photo very much! I expected to see Maureen & Brian or Alan & his new girlfriend or Elizabeth & Frank, but this couple is also a nice one!
Brian Walbey: I'm glad you like this Philine, even on a day like this the Lakes are still beautiful. Alan and his new girlfriend, have I been missing something!
Surveying the scenery - I like the composition, Brian smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin, the scenery still looks good even in this weather.
It can be a bit grim up north Brian
Brian Walbey: Indeed BIll, but the lakes and mountains are still lovely to be among.
The miserable weather doesn't seem to have deterred them from taking in that magnificent view, Brian, nor has it stopped you from capturing the whole scene so beautifully.
Brian Walbey: No the weather didn't stop us from enjoying our first full day in the lakes, indeed this image was one of the first I took during the week of 700+ for the holiday.

Well it's not leftover any more Brian.
Brian Walbey: Or the other six to come this week Chad. The one on Thursday is especially for you, I say no more!!
what a beautiful view Brian.. The couple also makes it look better!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much, even the dull conditions can't take away the beauty of the area.
Fast changing weather here, low cloud makes for a cold impression
Brian Walbey: Yes but we enjoyed seeing the place almost as much as when it was fine weather.
Very nice, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frank.
A very nice composition indeed with this couple Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, they were standing in just the right place.
Yes I agree. It is good to get people into the shot sometimes. Wonderful view
Brian Walbey: They added to the picture I thought as interested spectators.

I love those mountains in the back. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derwentwater I googled it, so I know 'where we are'.
I think you had a wonderful time here. The nature looks very nice and rough.
Brian Walbey: We did have a lovely time Astrid, the weather improved the next day and stay more or less fine for most of the week. The scenery is lovely, Frank, Alan and Richard are all very familiar with those particular mountains I'm told.

Never bad weather in the Lakes, Brian; simply a bad choice of clothing wink A delightful view of my favourite mountain.
Brian Walbey: I must admit it wasn't the best of days to start the holiday proper but it improved from Monday onwards.
