GCR - Loughborough 27-4-13 #3

Ex LMS 0-6-0T Jinty No.47406 eases into Loughborough Central with a local train bound for Leicester North.

Maureen went to see her Consultant yesterday for her 6 - 8 week check-up and he was pleased that she appears to be recovering normally, (but not quick enough for her of course!). He is going to delay doing her other hip for the time being unless it becomes so uncomfortable she feels it should be done, and will check her out further in 6 months time. Hopefully that means by next spring we may be able to plan some time away, thinking especially if there is any sort of get-together next year and Maureen (our driver) is able to drive comfortably by then.

Love the steam!
I'm glad Maureen is doing so well! And I expect you'll arrange any further surgery around the SC gathering... I'm looking forward to meeting you both!
Brian Walbey: The steam looks good on this one, I really like this old engine, Frank might have seen these when he was a youngster, but my part of the country didn't have them. Hopefully we will be there in May, it's pencilled in, so to speak.

Shoot over to Thailand, Brian...I can drive while you and Maureen just gaze out the windows and go "Oooooooo...".

Steam makes this picture...well done!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray, and for the invitation to drive us around in Thailand, perhaps some years ago we might have even considered it.
I love to see them running with the smoke stack in front Brian...smile

Maureen will be surprised how fast the healing will be from this point on... i found a big difference after eight weeks with my knee replacement....petersmile
Brian Walbey: I like your term "smoke stack", we call them chimneys.

Next year Astrid & Ginnie will be visiting the UK again Brian. We hope to have another S/C meet-up on Sunday 11 May in the Midlands

These jinties bring back very happy memories
Brian Walbey: I never got to see Jinties coming from the LNER area. I have pencilled in 11th.May, perhaps nearer the time you might let me know where the meet will be and will will book in to a nearby hotel and make a long weekend of it.

That is very good news Brian, Maureen will soon be chasing you around the house again.
Brian Walbey: I think Maureen's days of chasing me about, for whatever reason, are well past Chad.
love the steam
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chantal.

Steam adds to this picture. Great picture.
I am glad that Maureen is doing better. I know patience is difficult.
We hope that you both can come to the meet-up.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Astrid. The 11th.May is sort of pencilled in for next year.

My fingers are crossed, Brian, that you and Maureen will be able to make the meet-up in May! That would be splendid!!! You could always take the train, right??? grin
Brian Walbey: We have tentatively pencilled 11th.May, the date Chris has suggested, it would be nice to take the train for a chnage, sadly they are very expensive and never go where one wants to, especially on Sundays.

This is a terrific series Brian. Glad to hear the good news about Maureen. Love to see you both down in East Suffolk next summer.
Brian Walbey: Thanks on both counts Richard. Maureen has been thinking about having a break in Southwold, we have only ever visited at odd times, but never stayed there. We will see how things unfold and keep you posted.

Terrific shot of this oldy. Glad Maureen is recovering well
Brian Walbey: Thanks Aussie.
Nice shot, Brian, glad to hear your good lady is doing well.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frank, Maureen is, I think, happy the other hip isn't being done straight away.

First: Thanks for the good news about Maureen! In my view it is good to wait for the next hip operation, for she surely needs some time for recovering. The hip op is a routine op, but a rather big one, sometimes with bigger blood loss. I think she can soon drive the car or is already driving the car.
Second: I like you loc photo and I imagine that more steam would look like thick fog we had experienced in Nederland where I enjoyed a weekend at Astrid's and Ginnie's home.
Special greetings to Maureen!
Brian Walbey: Maureen sends her thanks for your very kind and understanding words Philine, I think she will leave it a bit longer before driving the car, but the delay does mean we might be able to join the crowd if there is a get together next May when Ginnie, Astrid and Elizabeth fly in.
The steam adds so much to this fine shot, Brian! Good news about Maureen smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin.
Glad to hear Maureen is recovering so well.

That lucky man in the cab is living the dream of so many other men. Wonderful, nostalgic shot, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Pauline. I used to ride in the shunting engine that came to our station when I was a lad, my Dad knew the drivers being a railwayman, but I've never had the chance to ride in one going at speed.

Ahhhh.. now there's a fine sight. Proper British engineering. I like the escaping steam.. it adds to the atmosphere very much. I think those old sleepers are only good for the firebox now.

I'm please to hear that Maureen is recovering as expected and hope that she has returned to domestic duties! I see there is mention of 11 may; I'm returning from the lake District the day before so perhaps I could delay my return by a day.
Brian Walbey: I like these little engines, I didn't see them as a youngster being from the LNER region. We are now splitting the chores between us, a slow handover back smile You probably could alter your May return from holiday I guess, I believe the RAF Cosford Museum might be the venue.
Thanks for sharing and glad she's on the mend.. and love the image
Brian Walbey: My pleasure and thanks very much.
Nice to read that Maureen is recovering well Brian!
Lovely capture with the steam.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard.
11th of May Brian and almost certainly at the RAF museum at Cosford. so not too far to drive. Astrid and Ginnie will be here and it would be lovely to see you and Maureen
Brian Walbey: I'm hoping we can make the 11th., if we do then I suspect we will find a hotel and make a two or three day break of it. Alan has picked up on the date and is returning from the Lake District on the 10th.so might consider extending his holiday by a day to join the group, he is a nice man, he called in at our place some while ago on his way back from a holiday somewhere.
Woo - that takes me back!
Brian Walbey: I didn't get to see these little engines coming from the LNER region, they are nice little machines I always think.
