photoblog image A Look At Lakeland (1 of quite a few)

A Look At Lakeland (1 of quite a few)

AT THIRLMERE WATER 3/7

After taking the four shots in yesterdays post, during our short walk above Thirlmere Water we started to turn back towards the car but not before seeing this beautiful landscape laid out before us. Tomorrow the scene looking back from where we had come. Thirlmere is a reservoir in the Borough of Allerdale in the Lake District and runs roughly south to north, with a dam at the northern end. Thirlmere was constructed in the 19th century by the Manchester Corporation to provide the burgeoning industrial city of Manchester with water supplies.

Several of you asked me how many prints I have in my clubs exhibition I mentioned on Monday, I know of four which you can see below, they have all been on SC.at one time or another:

I really like the angle so that terrific fence is displayed nicely!!

These are all terrific shots- you should be very proud to have them in the exhibition!

Good walking weather, I see, Brian, for this beautiful, pastoral scene. And thanks for showing us the images you have in the exhibition. Bravo.
Brian Walbey: I wouldn't mind going to this spot again without having to leave the car with all our luggage in. Our club met last night and everybody was impressed as to how well our pictures look on display in what is the biggest exhibition we have done because of its venue.

The fence draws my eye. Beautiful!
Brian Walbey: I thought it made a nice line across the shot, it is actually a fence and stone wall combined. I see they have left the gate open, presumably so the sheep can roam about.
nice hillside
Wonderful scenery, even on a cloudy day......a great shot Brian!
I recognise three of the four smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin.
A fine selection for the exhibition. I hope attendances have been good as it is a lot of hard work
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill. It will be impossible to know how many people look at our pictures with it being a public museum, we just hope that those who do enjoy them.
That fence is looking like a dry stone wall in keeping with the area. Great view Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes it is a fence and drystone wall all in one Janet.

Did you know that there water supplies Manchester purely by gravity? There are no pumps. The Herdwick seems unimpressed with such grand views; perhaps she has seen it all before?

Well done on your work for the camera club's exhibition.
Brian Walbey: yes no doubt photographers and walkers pass through here all the time. I knew about the water but not that it is totally gravity fed. Thanks re the exhibition, all the club members are very pleased at our display, it is on until 24th.November.
What a pleasure it must be to walk and photograph this lovely landscape.

So nice to see that you have these four prints on display at your club's exhibition, Brian. I'm sure they will be well appreciated by all those who have a chance to visit the exhibit.
Brian Walbey: Calling in at this lake was our introduction to the area as we were getting near to our destination, we couldn't have asked for a better introduction. I hope all mine, and the other members prints are appreciated Beverly, there are some good photographers in my club.
Nice view, Brian, your entries look good,I hope they do well.
Brian Walbey: Thanks on both counts Frank.
Another lovely view, Brian.
Brian Walbey: I really had to get the wall in, and the open gate works well, taking one through in to the next field.
Love the line of that dry stone wall, Brian. It's glorious.
