photoblog image A Look At Lakeland (1 of quite a few)

A Look At Lakeland (1 of quite a few)

ON LATRIGG 7/7

Apparently the wooded areas of Latrigg are now used for logging works and this view from the car park looking west shows some of the woodland in a little valley which is on the left as one drives back down to Keswick below. If you look carefully you can just see the eastern end of Bassenthwaite lake below the mountains in the far distance.  That track/road in the picture is not the one we used to get up to this place, that is only for the logging company, thank goodness!

What a great view, love it. It looks like a great place to walk.
Brian Walbey: It was lovely up there Astrid, of to have been younger and fitter.

The views are to be marvelled at Brian
Brian Walbey: They are indeed Chris, back to ground level on Monday.
So much space to explore, guess you had plenty of exercise
Brian Walbey: Not as much as we would have if we were younger and fitter.

Logging roads are scary aren't they and have radio controlled traffic. Very nice view of the valley.
Brian Walbey: I personally wouldn't want to drive down that little road, but as to whether it had traffic control, I suspect the answer would be no.

My eyes like to walk along the path around the corner of this hill - a fine vista from the car park. Yes, I can see the lake, but no sheep.
Brian Walbey: As you saw earlier in the series there was sheep on the hills, but none, it seemed, down in that forestry area.
I like to walk also - that path invites me
Brian Walbey: Indeed, although I think that path is a private one.
I like the perspective of this valley Brian!
Brian Walbey: Yes it is a nice shape and opens out to the wider valley and lake beyond.

Aaaah.. now I remember this bend from the Karrimor event back in June; some rather nice marshalls on the bend out of sight to the left smile
Brian Walbey: They must have been nice if that made that much impression Alan smile
A fine landscape Brian. Great scenery
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, it's like this everywhere one goes it seems.
