A Look At Lakeland (1 of quite a few)

BASSENTHWAITE 2/2

As I said yesterday I didn’t take many images at Bassenthwaite Lake, which is to the North-West of Keswick, in the dull conditions, but I thought this boulder in the water made a good foreground to the hills of Bassenthwaite Common in the background.

Nessie...summering in Bassenthwaite Lake...
Brian Walbey: One l(h)ump of Nessie at least smile
From the trees up > it looks like a painting. Nice capture.
Brian Walbey: Yes, despite the dullish sort of day there was nice light on the hills.

I am happy to look at those hills but I expect some other S/Cers, particularly Mr Alan Rolfe, would want to run up them
Brian Walbey: Yes I enjoyed looking at them but I did think, one or twice, how good it would be to have the health and energy to walk up some of them.
Yes the lonely rock sets it all off nicely Brian
Brian Walbey: Be handy to carry a rock like this round in the boot of the car wouldn't it, for such occasions as this smile

They look like painted hills. Very pretty.
Brian Walbey: Yes the light caught the hills nicely despite being dull where we were.
A very pleasing view and not dull at all Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Janet, at least what sun there was fell on the hills.
Wonderful light and great composition !
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much.
Beautiful composition with a very nice light play in the background Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, it was lucky to have that sunlight on the hills beyond.
Where have all the boats gone -I know you have kept them for Boat Friday (I have just learnt about Boat Friday)
Brian Walbey: I do have some Boat Friday shots from this extended series but sadly not from this lake.

It's not one of my favourite lakes, I have to say but its claim to fame is that it is the only Lake in the Lakes; the rest being meres, tarns or waters.
Brian Walbey: Yes it's surround isn't as dramatic as some of the others is it. I was aware re it being called a lake, perhaps we should call the area the Tarn District smile
nice view from this side. i like the dense cover of vegetation on the other side
Brian Walbey: Yes the hills look lovely in that light don't they.
A finely balanced picture, Brian. I once spent 1/4 hour trying to incorporate that rock into a decent picture. Glad to see it's still there
