Walking back in to the village from the lake I saw this beautiful tree which really appealed with such fine colours set off against the trees growing on the lower slopes of High Crag behind it.

Stunning landscape Brian! A lovely view of nature at its best. The tree is perfectly centered and framed by the surrounding trees.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frances, it was the shape of the tree that first caught my eye.

Well seen, Brian...its gorgeous!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray.
It's a very majestic tree Brian and you have framed it well... but i also love the evergreens growing straight up against the slope of the mountain and the stream coming down it....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Sometimes a small selection for a picture like this works better than the whole thing doesn't it.

Well seen Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris.
That is a nearly perfect tree! I love this!
Brian Walbey: It was the shape of the tree that first caught my eye Elizabeth, this wouldn't have been in bloom when you and Frank walked past it I suspect.

A real trial planting on these slopes ... I think the tree-line has been reached(I'm sure you know what that means Brian)
Brian Walbey: Yes I do know Richard, or perhaps they reached a point at which they'd had enough trying to plant trees on a slope smile
Well spotted Brian! This is wonderful.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard.

The conifers are great there to prevent some erosion and they give a perfect background to the leafing and flowering deciduous tree.
Brian Walbey: The shape of the tree and big difference in the greens are what caught my eye.
Tones and textures in this are fab.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Dave.
Fine colour contrasts, Brian.
Brian Walbey: yes that's part of what caught my eye Tom.

Is it an oak, Brian? Whatever it is, I can see why you were attracted to it.
Brian Walbey: Not sure what type of tree Alan, but it looks good against the hillside doesn't it.
