A Look At Lakeland (1 of quite a few)

ASHNESS 2/7

Just below the S-bend on the mountain road to Watendlath (see yesterday) is this fine view out over to the mountains beyond. I’m not sure of the name of that peak in the distance, (I bet Frank and Alan know what it is called), but the area is generally known as the Ashness Fells I believe.

Stunning landscape Brian! The stone wall with the gate adds some wonderful elements here. As usual the sky is spectacular.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frances, there is some fantastic scenery in the Lake District.

You have captured a gorgeous light here, Brian.
Brian Walbey: It was lovely light that day Ray, except for a short while just after this was taken when we had a short, sharp shower, but then like this again.
Very lovely! I really like the tree framing the shot!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth, I like using trees as frames.

Yes, I remember - the hedged landscape and the drystone walls - wonderful photo! - 'mountains' sound nice, 'hills' sound better, but 'peak' sound wonderful! 'Fells' is always right!
Brian Walbey: You certainly have your English learnt well for our lakes and mountains Philine.

Brian Walbey: Many years ago yes, too old now sadly.
Nice framing and good exposure, Brian.

Gorgeous shot, Brian. I like the line up of trees in the center.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary. It was a temptation to open the gate but I thought better of it, although open gates do look better in photos like this.
This is looking like a lovely tour Brian.
Brian Walbey: I hope you like what you see then Janet, it goes on for quite a while.

I love the stonewall surrounding the beautiful view smile
Brian Walbey: Yes that wall and the gate give a nice base to the picture although I'd prefer the gate to be open.
A very satisfying composition Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, I'd prefer an open gate but one can't have everything.
Nice shot, Brian, well framed. I can't be bothered to look it up....smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Frank.

Excellent Brian. I will always have a place in my heart for the wonderful Lake District scenery.
Brian Walbey: I was overwhelmed Mike with the whole area we went to not having been there since 1960, and also of course having a decent camera with me this time.
What a wonderful scene in this light Brian!
Brian Walbey: Lovely isn't it, i was so lucky with the light at this particular spot.

Brian Walbey: Thanks jacquelyn, lovely scenery isn't it.
I need to be there !!
Brian Walbey: It is that tempting isn't it.
Love the contrast and depth in this shot.
Brian Walbey: Everything was just right, how lucky can one get.

Ashness Fell is good enough for me. You had a some good weather fro this.
Brian Walbey: It was lovely at this point but rained quite hard at Watendlath a short while later. We retired to the tearoom for Leek and Potato Soup smile
