Lady St.Mary Church, Wareham 6/7

Within the chancel of Lady St.Mary’s parish church at Wareham, Dorset is this very finely decorated organ, certainly one of the best decorated set of pipes I think I have ever seen. Sadly it wasn’t being played while we were there.

I have never seen pipes decorated as good as these Brian, a wonderful picture.
Brian Walbey: Yes I thought they were so very attractive.

I do enjoy seeing a mighty organ Brian
Brian Walbey: Shame there wasn't anybody playing it, but then it was mid-morning on a weekday.

I do like to hear a good tune played on an organ. If I squint, I keep thinking of an American Indian head dress.
Brian Walbey: I generally enjoy organ music although some can be a bit "iffy". I've not seen organ pipes quite like these before.

It is gorgeous isn't it!
Brian Walbey: It's lovely Mary, shame I couldn't hear it played.
Wonderful isn't it. I can't remember seeing one like this before
Brian Walbey: I wouldn't normally bother with a picture of the organ but those pies really caught my eye.
That is pretty impressive,Brian,if it sounds as good as it looks.....
Brian Walbey: Yes a most unusual looking instrument which sadly I never got the opportunity to hear.
That's very interesting - looks rather East European somehow!
Brian Walbey: Yes I suppose it does Tom, it certainly doesn't look like most church organs.

That is a fine looking instrument Brian
Brian Walbey: And most unusual in style.
I don't think I've ever seen organ pipes decorated - how unusual, and lovely!
Brian Walbey: Yes I've not seen organ pipes like this, although I have seen quite majestic organs in several churches.
