Blimey these locos are long lived workhorses aren't they. You can still see them out there heading freights for DRS and working Network Rail inspection trains
Brian Walbey: Yes I know that a lot of the class 37's are still in daily use on all sorts of trains.
I have looked at your week of engines - is this your hobby?
Brian Walbey: Thanks for looking at my pictures this week, steam railways is one of my interests among others, and this particular steam railway is only a short drive away from my house.

Yes, I remember these big brutes
Brian Walbey: So do I Richard, there are still quite a few of them in use on the main line.
Would brighten up a gloomy day
Brian Walbey: Indeed it would Janet, see it coming from miles away, in fact you'd hear one of these coming from miles away.
I never thought I would say it,but I'm starting to like them, Brian, just one big lump of power.
Brian Walbey: These beats have been about a long time Frank and are still in use on the main line. They sound powerful as well as look powerful.
Nice one, Brian! Reminds me a bit of an overgrown yellow school bus.
Brian Walbey: This is just about the same colour as your school buses, going by what we see in films anyway.

Ugly things aren't they? Still, I expect they appeal to some.
Brian Walbey: Not the best looking of locos but fine workhorses and still in use on the national network.
Can't get interested in diesel units - boring!
Brian Walbey: No not as exciting as steam although people born post-steam are as enthusiastic about diesels as we gents of the steam era and steam locos, it's what one remembers I suppose.

In a world...pugnacious!
Brian Walbey: Yes indeed Ray, but there are a lot of these still in use on the national network, especially with mineral trains.
not much in the way of cow-catchers? or am i missing something?
Brian Walbey: We've never had cow-catchers on any engines over here Ayush, the nearest I guess would be small snow ploughs on trains in places like Scotland where they get a lot of snow in the winter.
He wears a nice bright coat of colour.
Brian Walbey: Yes it does Jacquelyn, it would be seen from quite a way off.
