Charlecote Manor - Inside 2/7

Shortly after leaving the Great Hall at Charlecote Manor one enters the Dining Room, and as with all such houses it is a very fine room indeed. The table is set for twelve and again there is a very interesting painting hung above the fireplace. I think I could enjoy eating a meal in this room as long as somebody else prepared it for me and my guests.

If I woke up in this room, Brian, I would know I was not at home...

We dispensed with the dining table...
Brian Walbey: I definitely haven't got a dining room like this either.
I like the centerpiece
Brian Walbey: The whole lot is rather splendid isn't it.

Grand but not too large for a convivial dinner party
Brian Walbey: Yes I reckon one could have quite a cosy meal round that table.

I like the contrast of gold & red Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes it's all rather splendid isn't it.
such decadence
Brian Walbey: Just how the other half lived back in days gone by, one consolation is that they did give employment to a lot of people.

Those screens look a bit sinister Brian, I wonder what goes on behind them.
Brian Walbey: Perhaps that's where the Butler and Upstairs Maid entertained themselves while the eating went on.
Nice shot brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Previ.
I like the gold decor and what beautiful chairs. It would be very pleasant to dine here.
Brian Walbey: Indeed Janet, it would be nice to sit and have dinner there with the right company, being waited on hand and foot as they say.
Makes the rustic old pine table in my dining room look a bit plain Brian. Such opulence
Brian Walbey: Indeed our Dining Room looks considerably drab to this one.
I see you were expected for dinner Brian, a rather splendid setting.
Brian Walbey: I wish John, but yes, it is a fine room to have a meal in.
Very fine!
Brian Walbey: Certainly is Tom.
the carpet is very small fr such an arrangement...
Brian Walbey: I hadn't noticed that Carlos, I guess they wanted to highlight the posh wooden floor.
What a richly coloured room, very regal. You can indeed imagine eating there Brian.
Brian Walbey: I would love to eat there, with the right people, and being waited on.

As much as I enjoy visiting such properties, I'm not so interested in going indoors; they don't do a lot for me. However, how to see images though to show me what I miss smile A fine shot.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. We don't always go inside, more so now that we are NT.members, we've paid for it. We went to the Wordsworth family home in Cockermouth in April, whilst at Keswick, and found that most uninteresting inside.
I think you've just pictured the word 'sumptuous', Brian.
Brian Walbey: Indeed I can't think of a better word to describe this Dining Room Graeme.
What a somptuous place Brian! Wonderful capture.
Brian Walbey: Indeed I can't think of a better word to describe this Dining Room, thanks Richard.
Even though the decoration is very elaborate and ornate, Brian, the large window on the far right seems to let in enough daylight to give this splendid dining room a nice airy feeling.
Brian Walbey: Yes it does although I tried to avoid getting it in the picture because usually there is a lot of contrast and windows get burnt out, spoiling the picture.
A delightful room... especially the chairs.
Brian Walbey: Indeed Jacquelyn, who couldn't enjoy eating a meal in there, after the visitors have gone of course.
